NETAXMUQA means "I am singing" in the Cahuilla language.
I have to admit that I was pretty intimidated about putting these
signs out like this. As stated in my video statement, I am pretty introverted
person. Sounds strange to say, but these works meant more to me than
if they had been exhibited at the Whitney or something.
I wanted to make something specifically for my tribe and their response
was amazingly positive. That said, after being up for over a year they
were finally vandalized and destroyed.
